NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are investigating after a 75-year-old Bronx man was found beaten to death inside his apartment.

1010 WINS’ John Montone reports

Neighbors said the man, who they identified as Joe Fisher, was found lifeless on his kitchen floor Wednesday night. The 75-year-old had severe head and body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

According to published reports, an obscene message was also found written across Fisher’s chest in red lipstick.

Fisher was a handyman who has lived on Walton Avenue for decades, neighbors said, and many are now wondering why anyone would want to kill him.

“He was really popular,” said one man who lives a few doors down. “Because of his personality, he was a good, cool guy.”

“He was a really nice guy,” said another neighbor.

So far, no arrests have been made and an exact cause of death has not been determined.

Police are still investigating.
