NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The 66th Annual Tony Awards — which acknowledges and honors Broadway’s best — is taking place live on Sunday night at the famed Beacon Theater.
While older shows such as “The Book of Mormon” were invited to perform, “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” was not. However, in a surprising twist, the producers of that show decided to hold a special matinée, offering free tickets to anyone with the first name Tony, Anthony, Antoinette, Antonio or Antonia.
Among the presenters on Sunday night are Nick Jonas, Jim Parsons, James Marsden, Candice Bergen and Bernadette Peters.
The Tony Awards — which will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris — air live starting at 8 p.m. on CBS.
