R.A. Dickey had a special night down in Tampa last on Wednesday. But it could have been super special if not for the shaky play of his teammate David Wright at third base.
Wright’s gaffes aside, Dicky was as good as he’s ever been, allowing just one hit while striking out a career-high 12 and even got in the Mets’ record book by extending his scoreless streak to 32 2/3 innings before yielding an unearned run in the ninth, thanks to an error by the aforementioned Wright.
When the game concluded, Dicky had gone the distance and the Mets beat the Rays 9-1. The Mets are going to appeal the first-inning ruling of B.J. Upton’s hit, believing Wright should have been charged with an error, thus preserving another no-hitter.
So the Dickey magic, combined with yet another win by the red hot Yankees – who beat the Braves 3-2 – created quite a bit for Boomer & Craig to talk about when opening-up this Thursday edition of the Morning Extravaganza…
