Authorities: N.J. Man Arrested After Attempting To Bring Switchblade Onto Plane At LaGuardia

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Authorities said that a New Jersey man has been arrested after he tried to get on a plane at LaGuardia Airport with a switchblade knife in his carry-on bag.

A spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration said that a TSA agent detected the knife on Friday morning and alerted the Port Authority police.

Police said that 25-year-old Nicholas Casci of Colts Neck, N.J. was arrested on a weapons-possession charge. He is awaiting arraignment. No information on an attorney was immediately available.

Casci was trying to board a flight to Denver.

Weapons -- including switchblades -- are not permitted in carry-on baggage.
