NEW YORK (WFAN) - Point guard Steve Nash said that he would ‘definitely consider’ signing with the Knicks this offseason.
The 38-year-old — who has been rumored to be a trade target of the Knicks for over two years — said that the Knicks are on his list of teams that he would join for the upcoming campaign, CBSSports.com reported via other sources.
“The Knicks are a great franchise and I live in New York City [each summer], so I’d definitely consider them if they were interested,” the eight-time NBA All-Star recently said at a promotional appearance in Manhattan.
However, it certainly appears that he’s keeping his options open.
“I want to wait and see what’s actually on the table,” Nash said. “I’m open and excited, and I’m looking at every possibility right now. It sounds like there are a number of teams that are interested.”
In his 16-year career in the NBA, the three-time All-NBA First Team selection has played with only two teams, the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks. He played with Phoenix from 1996-1998 and then left with Dallas, only to return to Arizona in 2004.
The six-foot-three, 178-pounder showed his age a bit last season, but did manage to average a double-double. The Santa Clara alum averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists in 31.6 minutes in 2011-12.
