The pool includes a beach, deck, concessions, picnic tables, showers and restrooms.
Sixty people can be in the temporary 50-foot-long, 3.5-foot-deep pool at one time.
"A lot of people don't have country houses, the country is the parks," Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe said. "We need to provide places for them to get cool."

Brooklynite Brianna Myers finds the man-made beach near the pool convenient.
"I'd have to schlep to the beach and that would be at least an hour away," Myers said.
The nearly $700,000 pool will remain an attraction at the waterfront park for the next five summers.
It will be operated by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.
