Acne in your teenage years can be pretty traumatic, as many of us know all too well. But more and more adults are now also suffering from sudden outbreaks.
It can be painful, and even take a mental toll.
So how can you help clear up your skin?
Dermatologist Dr. Eric Schweigher visited The Couch to debunk some myths and offer some tips in the battle against adult acne.
To start, Dr. Schweigher put to rest an idea that many of us have heard for much of our lives. As it turns out, eating greasy foods probably doesn’t affect your skin.
“Studies have looked over this over time and most have said that diet and food are not related [to acne],” he said.
As for the difference between adult acne and teenage acne, it’s all in how you treat it. Adults often have dry skin so you have to pick medicines that don’t over-dry them.
But that’s not all. Check out the video below for more on the truth about chemical peels and other acne-fighting treatments.
