N.J. ‘Tan Mom’ Photographed Without The Rays For ‘In Touch’ Magazine
NUTLEY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Feeling the heat over accusations she took her 6-year-old daughter into a tanning booth, the New Jersey woman known as the “tanning mom” is changing her look.
“In Touch” magazine challenged Patricia Krentcil to go without the rays — real and fake — for a month. While Krentcil admits she has used a little self-tanner, for the most part, she’s keeping a natural look — at least for now.
Many who remember her for her extreme deep tan were impressed by the new images.
“Now she looks human again. She definitely looks human — that’s definitely an improvement,” Queens resident Greg Montas said.
“We will sit her down and do a big self-esteem workshop with her over ice cream,” said Louisiana resident Adele Wormser.
In May, Krentcil pleaded not guilty to charges of child endangerment. She said the whole situation was a big misunderstanding, adding that she would never take her daughter into a tanning bed.
Krentcil said when the school nurse asked her daughter how she got burned, she simply said, “‘I go tanning with mommy.'” However, the woman said her daughter’s burn was not from getting into a tanning bed, but from being outside and playing in the backyard.
“The whole thing’s preposterous!” Krentcil said back in May.
