UConn Quarterback Mike Nebrich Will Transfer

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The University of Connecticut says sophomore quarterback Mike Nebrich has decided to transfer.

Nebrich, who was a highly touted recruit out of Burke, Va., spent his freshman season as a backup, seeing limited action. He had 69 yards passing, 60 of them coming in a Sept. 3 win over Fordham.

Nebrich and senior Johnny McEntee, last year's starter, were listed second on the Huskies' preseason depth chart, behind sophomore transfer Chandler Whitmer.

Nebrich's departure leaves UConn with four quarterbacks.

The Huskies also have sophomore Scott McCummings, who the team used last year as a running threat in an option-style package, and freshman Casey Cochran, who is recovering from a broken wrist on his non-throwing hand.

The Huskies went 5-7 last season, 3-4 in the Big East.
