NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Coast Guard said it is searching for a man who was reported a missing person near East Rockaway Inlet on Thursday.

A friend of Stanislaw Nawrocki, a 57-year-old man from Ridgewood, Queens, told Nassau County Police the man fell overboard while fishing and that he wasn’t able to find him.

Nassau authorities contacted the Coast Guard, which deployed a jet, helicopter, motor lifeboat and response boat crews. The Guard is working with marine units from Nassau County, along with the NYPD and Hempstead Bay Constables and Atlantique Beach in the search.

The initial report of the missing person to the authorities was approximately two to three hours following the incident, the Coast Guard said in a release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound Command Center at 203-468-4401.
