Customs Agents Recover 8 Pounds Of Heroin Hidden In Hair Treatment
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Should it be called "hair-oin?"
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents say they seized more than 8 pounds of heroin concealed in hair treatment product.
CBP says Emilce Cardona was on a flight from Bogota to JFK International Airport on July 25. When they inspected her luggage, they found 38 packages of the product. The packets contained a brown pasty substance which tested positive for heroin, CBP said.
"CBP is ever vigilant in our daily battle in combating the flow of illicit narcotics from entering the United States."
Cardona faces federal smuggling charges.
