Motorcyclist Killed After Losing Control Of Bike On Long Island

BELLPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A motorcyclist traveling at a high rate of speed was killed after losing control of his bike and striking a bus and a SUV on Long Island, police said.

It happened at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday on Station Road in Bellport.

The unidentified motorcyclist was heading northbound when he lost control and struck the bus, which was traveling southbound and making a left turn into a driveway. The motorcyclist then collided with a Range Rover that was traveling southbound, police said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured. The driver of the bus was issued several summonses.

The investigation is continuing.
