Two Men Wanted For Impersonating Police Officers, Robbing Midtown Store

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police are asking the public for help in identifying two men wanted for impersonating police officers in Midtown last month.

On Thursday, July 19, at 11:20 p.m., two men a store on 435 5th Ave. and displayed a shield stating they were police officers.

The men then asked store employees to see their identification and moved them to a back room. The suspects then stole money, a cell phone, an iPad and a necklace from the victims, police said.

The suspects fled the store and remain at large.

Police describe one of the suspects as a black male, age 30 to 35, approximately 6 feet to 6-feet-4-inches tall. He weighs approximately 200 to 225 pounds, has braids and tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
