NYPD: Suspect Beat Woman Unconscious Before Sexually Assaulting Her

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a Manhattan sex assault suspect who they say violently attacked a woman last Friday.

The suspect entered a business at 85 Washington Place in Greenwich Village and repeatedly struck the 41-year-old victim in the body and face until she went unconscious, police said.

He then sexually assaulted her, authorities said.

The suspect also removed property from the location before fleeing on foot.  The victim was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center in stable condition.

Authorities said the suspect is a black or Hispanic man, between 20 to 25 years old, approximately 6-foot with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark Kangol-style cap, dark T-shirt, camouflage shorts and a backpack.
