Town residents cheered on the team of 12-year-olds as their bus pulled in to the town green, just back from Williamsport, Penn.
"I had tears. I don't have anyone on that team but I had tears in my eyes when they came out of that bus," one woman told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
"It was wonderful. I watched every game on the TV, they were spectacular. Great kids," another Fairfield resident said.
The team lost, 5-0, to California in an elimination game on Tuesday.
