PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Former St. Peter’s Prep safety Sheldon Royster is transferring to Rutgers.
Scarlet Knights coach Kyle Flood announced the move on Tuesday, saying the Woodbridge resident will have three years of eligibility after he starts playing next season.
Royster left South Carolina after its preseason camp. He was redshirted by the Gamecocks in 2011.
Royster played running back and safety at St. Peter’s Prep. He was rated among the top 10 safeties in the nation when he left high school. He will join former high school teammates Savon Huggins and Keith Lumpkin at Rutgers.
