Eric Church To Release Live Album In 2013

Eric Church has been quoted as saying he's in no hurry to record a new studio album as a followup to his hugely successful Chief. However, that doesn't mean he's not going to be rolling any tape at all.

Eric Church has revealed that he will record his first-ever live album, with a plan to release it in early 2013. For the album, Church and his band will record two shows he has scheduled in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Oct. 8-9, 2012. The show are part of Church's fall leg of his Blood Sweat & Beers Tour, which kicks off Sept. 15 and runs through the end of the year.

In related news, Church also announced the Captured Video Contest. The idea is that fans shoot a two minute (or less) video telling when Eric's music first "captured" them and turned them into a "die hard fan." As the rules state, fans can "can tell/show it any way you want, and be as creative as you want." Eric will pick the finalists, and then fans will vote on the winner, who will get to attend one of the two live-album tapings in Chattanooga. The deadline for entry is Sept. 12.

Church recently told Billboard he was planning to stay "out of the spotlight next year, really," to focus on songwriting. "I want to see if I can write some songs and see where we can go, musically." His live album, then, should help to tide fans over in the meantime.
