Kidd wasn't wearing his New York Knicks uniform, instead opting for a navy pinstripe suit and tie.

The 39-year-old stood with his back straight as he looked at the judge during his court appearance in Southampton on a misdemeanor DWI charge.

The court hearing lasted all of two minutes and Kidd did not say a word.

His attorney, Edward Burke, Jr., said it was procedural.

"We're defending that. Jason is very in tune with this and we look forward to working with him," Burke told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall when asked about the DWI charge.

Kidd had just signed with the Knicks when police said he drove drunk, crashing his Cadillac SUV into a telephone in Water Mill, not far from his $6 million mansion.

Outside the courthouse, when reporters asked if he had anything to say, Kidd simply said "good morning."

The next court date is Nov. 7. The misdemeanor charge carries the potential for up to a year in jail.
