Conn. Man Arrested For Jumping On, Breaking 3-Year-Old Girl's Leg

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A West Haven man has been arrested after police said he jumped on a 3-year-old girl's leg and broke it.

The girl's mother told police her boyfriend Monserate Perez, 53, hit her Thursday morning. When she threatened to call the authorities, she said he jumped onto the girl's leg.

Police were called to a local hospital by doctors treating the girl for a severe leg injury.

The mother had told doctors the child hurt herself in a fall, but they said the injury was inconsistent with a fall.

Perez turned himself in to police Thursday night. He has been charged with multiple counts of assault and risk of injury to a child.
