Queens Girl Struck By Stray Bullet While Working On Her Homework
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 15-year-old girl who had woken up early Sunday morning to do her homework was injured by a stray bullet that was fired outside her apartment building in Queens.
Witnesses said the suspect, who was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, was apparently singing or humming a tune as he fired off at least five shots in the courtyard of the Queensbridge Houses around 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.

One of the bullets went through a window of a third floor apartment and struck 15-year-old Amy Sanchez in the hand, Schuck reported.
Residents of the housing project said they are no strangers to gun violence.
"To tell you the truth, I think it's always been here it's just that nobody really ever wanted to talk about it or look at it as a problem in our community," one woman said.
There are nearly 360 cameras in place around the housing project but some residents believe more can be done to keep them safe.
"I don't understand why they don't have a cop or a patrol officer 24/7," one man said.
Police will be reviewing surveillance footage as they try to track down the shooter.
