After a light night in sports, Jerry Recco didn’t have a lot to cover during his first update of the morning.  The Yankees lost in Minnesota 5-4, thanks in part to Joe Girardi’s decision to ‘go to his book’ and remove Phil Hughes.  Luckily for the Bombers, the Orioles also lost – getting shutout 4-0 by the Blue Jays in Baltimore – so the Yanks lead in the AL East is still 1.5 games.

The Mets lost to the Pirates 10-6, but in the process, David Wright did collect his 1,418th career hit, tying him with Ed Kranepool atop the Mets all-time list.  Craig was not impressed with Wright’s accomplishment, therefore glossed right over it.

Moving right along to the NFL, as the guys wonder where the team owners have been throughout this replacement referee ordeal, in addition to Roger Goodell.  During the overnight here on the FAN, Tony Paige offered his take on the replacement refs and in the process became very defensive of his something something…
