2 In The Kitchen: Every Good Tailgate Needs Burgers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – “Tailgate With 2″ week continued Thursday, and everybody knows it wouldn’t be a tailgate party without a burger. Executive Chef Andy D’Amico of 5 Napkin Burger, Marseille and Nice Matin brought a great recipe.

Green Tomato & Apple Chutney

Ingredients

  • Green Tomatoes – ½ “ Dice 1 ½ lb.
  • Green Apples ‐ ½ “ Dice 2 ea.
  • Spanish Onions – ¼ “ Dice 1 cup
  • Red Bell Pepper – ¼” Diced ½ cup
  • Sugar ¾ cup
  • Apple Cider Vinegar ¾ cup
  • Mustard Seed 1 tsp.
  • Red Pepper Flakes ½ tsp
  • Coriander Seed 1 tsp.

Preparation

1. Combine all ingredients in a medium non‐reactive saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened, about 40 minutes. Cool to room temperature.

Barbeque Burger

Ingredients

  • 6 ‐ 10 Oz. Wt. Burger
  • 6 Ea. Sliced Cheddar Cheese
  • 6 Tbs. Barbeque Sauce
  • 6 Oz. Volume Green Tomato Chutney
  • 6 Ea. 4” White bun
  • Salt

Preparation

1. Season burger with one generous shake of salt on each side and cook to temperature. Baste with a little barbecue sauce.

2. Toast burger bun

3. Place cheese on cooked burger and melt

4. Top with Barbeque Sauce and then Green Tomato Relish.
