20-Game Winner R.A. Dickey: I'd Love To Be Part Of Mets' Solution

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Fresh off his milestone 20th win of the season, Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey expressed his desire to stay in New York -- and bring winning baseball back to Flushing.

"We'll see how the offseason goes," Dickey told WFAN's Mike Francesa on Thursday. "I'm hoping to be back."

The 37-year-old signed a two-year, $7.8 million contract with New York after the 2010 season, which included a $5 million team option for 2013. Dickey told the Newark Star-Ledger that he and third baseman David Wright, who also has an option for 2013, are somewhat of a "package deal."

The Mets are expected to engage Dickey and Wright in extension talks this offseason.

"I certainly would love to be part of the solution here," Dickey told Francesa. "I think David and I both would."

As for his big win over the Pirates, Dickey said he was gassed but fought through as long as he could for the home crowd at Citi Field.

"It was a special day," said Dickey. "I tried to give (the fans) all I could, and it ended up working out."
