NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The quest for a 28th World Series title begins, as the Yankees kick off the American League Division Series on the road against the division rival Baltimore Orioles.

Yankees fans milling around Times Square said they have confidence the Bronx Bombers will prevail in the best-of-five series.

WCBS 880′s Monica Miller reports from Times Square

“That’s the good thing about the Yankees. Even in the tough times they always come through,” Brooklyn resident Cisco told WCBS 880′s Monica Miller. “I’ve seen a couple of Orioles shirts around here now all of a sudden, but it’s still New York.”

Other fans said the rollercoaster season has been hard on the Bronx loyal.

“There has been so many set backs for them. Not for the team, but for the fans. They’re the ones that are really rooting for them,” a woman told Miller. “It has been a really hard season for them, they have been a little bit beat up.”

This is Baltimore’s first time back in the post-season since 1997. The Yankees are in their fourth straight post-season.
