Don Larsen, Yogi Berra Reunite On 56th Anniversary Of World Series Perfect Game

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - A day after the 2012 Yankees notched their first win of the post-season, a pair of Yankee legends honored a pitching performance for the ages.

Monday is the 56th anniversary of Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series.

Larsen and his battery-mate that day reunited at the Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair, N.J. to mark the historic performance.

The 83-year-old Larsen said that game is always with him.

"I think about it maybe 10, 15 times a day. It just comes. Well now it's more so with the playoffs and everything else," Larsen told WCBS 880's Peter Haskell.

The pitcher said he still revels at his place in history and his achievement that's yet to be matched.

"I'm enjoying it so far. They can't beat it anyway, all they can do is tie it, right?" Larsen said.

"Well he had good stuff that day. Anything I put down, he got it over...never shook me off once," Berra told Haskell.

Berra said he did not realize he was catching a perfect game until about the seventh inning.

Larsen has decided to sell the uniform he wore that day when he delivered one of the best pitching performances of all time.

Larsen is selling the uniform to help pay the college tuitions of his two grandsons.

The uniform is expected to pull in more than a million dollars.
