Newark Police Investigating Fatal Shooting
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - Newark police are still investigating the early Saturday fatal shooting of a man.
Police have identified the victim as Abdul Muhammad, 45, but have not yet been able to establish a motive in the shooting.
The Newark man was shot around 12:30 Saturday morning on the 500 block of South 19th Street. He was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
The Essex County prosecutor's office said it appeared that Muhammad was targeted by the shooter but would not go into further detail.
Authorities have not released what kind of gun was used or how many shots were fired.
Newark's Homicide Task Force is investigating the killing.
