NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A drunken Brooklyn prosecutor has been charged with assault and several other counts, after allegedly attacking an emergency medical technician on the Brooklyn Bridge, according to a published report.

Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Michael Jaccarino, 30, was walking drunk across the bridge just before 1 a.m. Saturday, when EMTs found him and tried to take him to Beth Israel Hospital, according to a New York Post report.

But after crews put Jaccarino in the ambulance, he allegedly took off his seat belt and slapped a 46-year-old female EMT, the Post reported. He then choked her as she tried to put his seat belt back on, the newspaper reported.

Jaccarino was charged with second-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing, and harassment, the Post reported.

The EMT was treated and released from Beth Israel after suffering bruises, the newspaper reported. The Post account did not specify whether she worked for the Fire Department or a private agency.
