NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Yankees claimed David Herndon off waivers on November 6.  According to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, the Yankees have signed the right-handed reliever.

Heyman tweeted Tuesday evening: “Reliever David Herndon signs w/ #yankees after clearing waivers, agent Joshua Kusnick says.”

On June 19, Herndon underwent Tommy John surgery which ended his season.

The 27-year-old pitched in 5 games and 4.7 innings for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2012.  He struck out 8 batters and walked one batter.  His 2012 ERA was 4.70.

He’s pitched 117.0 innings in three major league seasons.  His career ERA is 3.85.
