International Music Star Emin Sits Down On The Couch

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Like Brazilian soccer players and Oprah, this music star is known by one name: Emin.

He's one of the hottest names in international music right now, and he hit The Couch to talk about his first US album, After The Thunder.

Having conquered his native Russia and Europe with hit records and sold out concerts, Emin now has the United States firmly in his grasp. His debut single Baby Get Higher is climbing the pop charts.

"It took a long time, I started in Russia, then London, I had some hit singles there, and now I'm in America," he said. "I'm very excited."

Releasing his debut US effort is a kind of coming home for the Azerbaijan-born performer, who spent much of
his childhood stateside, studied at NYU and has a home in New Jersey. Yet for most of his singing career, he
has been based in London and Moscow.

Influenced by the likes of Elvis and Tom Jones, this superstar spent some of his youth in New Jersey and Manhattan. For the complete interview, check out the video below.
