NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch will stay in the hospital for a few more days after being diagnosed with pneumonia, his spokesman said Wednesday.

Doctors at New York-Presbyterian Hospital are treating Koch with antibiotics, CBS 2 reported.

Spokesman George Arzt said he was having lunch with the former mayor on Tuesday when Koch said he didn’t feel well.

This is the second hospitalization for the former mayor, who turns 88 on Dec. 12, in three months.

Koch was at New York-Presbyterian for a few days in September where he was treated for anemia. During his hospital stay, Koch received a blood transfusion.

The three-term mayor has had previous health issues, including a stroke, a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery.

Koch served as mayor from 1978 to 1989.
