Quinn: Problems With NYC Voting Must Be Fixed Immediately
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Charging that New Yorkers have been faced with chaotic polling place procedures and poorly-trained workers, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn on Wednesday that the New York City Board of Elections fix the problems immediately.
"No New Yorker should be forced to leave their polling place discouraged because they need to get to work and can't wait for an hour or more to vote," she said, "and all New Yorkers should be confident that the poll workers they encounter are well-trained, and that polling place procedures are sufficient."

During the election in November, voters had to stay in line for hours because of what Quinn called "arcane registration procedures."
It also took an average of two hours to fix jammed voting machines, Quinn said.
Among the reforms proposed during the all-day City Council committee hearing were early voting at polling places, and an expanded and easier access to absentee ballots.
