Newtown Victim Caroline Previdi Was 'Always Wanting Others To Smile'

NEWTOWN, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- "Silly Caroline" Previdi was remembered after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre that took her life for her infectious grin and giving heart.

Karen Dryer, a neighbor, remembered how Caroline would ride the bus with her son, Logan, when he got scared. She'd sit with him, make sure he felt safe, and play peek-a-boo over the seat to distract him.

"My son refers to her as 'Silly Caroline,'" said Dryer, who days after the shooting was still wrestling with how to talk to her son about the shootings. "She's just a girl that was always smiling, always wanting others to smile."

Caroline Phoebe Previdi – the daughter of Jeffrey and Sandy Johnson Previdi – was remembered for her love to draw and dance.

"Her smile brought happiness to everyone she touched," Caroline's family said in a Legacy.com obituary.

A funeral mass for Caroline will be held at noon Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. Contributions in Caroline's memory may be made to "The Toy Chest", St. Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, Conn., 06470.
