Man Stabbed, Wounded In Staten Island Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was stabbed in the chest and wounded early Wednesday during a robbery on Staten Island, according to a published report.

Police told SILive.com the robber approached the man at Post and Port Richmond avenues, in the Port Richmond section of Staten Island. Speaking Spanish, he demanded property from the victim and a fight broke out, SILive reported.

The victim was stabbed with an unspecified sharp object during the fight, SILive reported. He found his own way to Richmond University Medical Center, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, SILive reported.

The suspect stole the victim's wallet and fled the scene, police said. He was described only as a Hispanic male in his 20s.
