Police Investigating Fatal Fall In Rockland's Palisades Center Mall

WEST NYACK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Police in Rockland County are investigating the death of a woman who fell from the fourth floor of the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack.

Clarkstown police are working to determine if the fall was accidental or a suicide.

A 36-year-old woman from Orangetown fell to her death inside the mall around 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, according to police.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Officers interviewed witnesses, some of whom were doing last-minute Christmas shopping when the incident occurred.

Police are also reviewing mall security footage to glean any insights into whether the fall was intentional.

There have three other falling deaths in the massive mall since it opened more than a decade ago, according to the Journal News.

A man intentionally jumped to his death last November, and two other men died in falls in 2005 and 2009, the Journal News reported.

The Palisades Center Mall is among the 10 largest in the country.
