U.S. Postal Service Holds Job Fair At Roosevelt Field Mall
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Some shoppers were looking for more than just bargains at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City on Thursday.

"They found out that we were having a job fair here and when they saw the sign '$22.15 an hour' they were very interested," said United States Postal Service district manager Lorraine Castellano.
She said roughly 25,000 employees nationwide are accepting early retirement at the end of January and 150 temporary positions need to be filled on Long Island alone.
The $22.15 number applies to the transitional letter carrier position. Also needed are tractor-trailer drivers and that position pays $21 an hour.
"People are coming over and they're very happy," Castellano told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller.
A woman named Monique said it would be a great opportunity for her 24-year-old son.
"He's been getting, you know, jobs here and there, but they've been close to minimum wage," Monique said.
