LIRR Expands Schedules For Weekend, New Year's

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Long Island Rail Road has announced plans to provide extra trains during the New Year's holiday period, with 14 trains on Saturday and Sunday.

There will also be extra trains on Monday.

The expanded schedule is as follows:

Saturday and Sunday:

Port Washington Branch
Eight extra trains are being added -- four westbound trains between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and four eastbound trains between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch
One overnight train between Penn Station and Huntington will be added to accommodate customers attending late night events in the city during the holidays.

Babylon Branch
One overnight train will likewise be added between Penn Station and Babylon.

Long Beach Branch
Eight extra trains are being added -- four westbound trains between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and four eastbound trains between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Ronkonkoma Branch
Three westbound trains between Farmingdale and Penn Station were added to schedules between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and three westbound trains between Penn Station and Farmingdale will be added to the between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The trains were added with the started with the new Nov. 12 timetable and after the holidays and are now part of the regular schedule.

Monday, Dec. 31: PM Eastbound
Eight extra trains are being added to the Eastbound PM schedule. They include:

Babylon Branch

2:32 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Lynbrook, then all stops to Babylon.
3 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica and Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon.
3:31 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon.

Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch

1:31 p.m. from Penn Station will make an added stop at Jamaica.
2:08 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, then all stops to Huntington.
2:29 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then all stops to Huntington.
3:24 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury, Hicksville.

Port Washington Branch

3:40 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Flushing Main Street, then all stops to Great Neck.

Far Rockaway Branch

3:48 p.m. from Penn Station stopping at Locust Manor, Laurelton, Rosedale, Valley Stream, then all stops to Far Rockaway.

Monday, Dec. 31: PM Westbound
Eighteen extra trains are added to the Westbound PM schedule They include:

Babylon Branch

6:20 p.m. from Babylon, making all stops to Rockville Centre, Jamaica and Penn Station.
7:24 p.m. from Freeport, stopping at Baldwin, Rockville Centre, Jamaica and Penn Station.
8:09 p.m. from Babylon, making all stop to Rockville Centre, Jamaica and Penn Station.
9:05 p.m. from Babylon, making all stops to Rockville Centre, Jamaica and Penn Station.

Port Jefferson Branch

1:31 p.m. to Port Jefferson will make an added stop at Jamaica.
4:55 p.m. from Huntington, stopping at Cold Spring Harbor, Syosset, Hicksville, Jamaica and Penn Station.
6:59 p.m. from Hicksville, making all stops to Jamaica and Penn Station.
7:10 p.m. from Port Jefferson, making all stops to Huntington, then Hicksville and Jamaica and Penn Station.
7:33 p.m. from Hicksville, local to Jamaica and Penn Station.
7:38 p.m. from Huntington, making all stops to Jamaica and Penn Station.
8:25 p.m. to Huntington making, all stops to Jamaica and Penn Station.

Montauk Branch

8 p.m. from Speonk making all stops to Babylon, then Jamaica and Penn Station.

Hempstead Branch

7:31 p.m. from Hempstead, making all stops to Jamaica, then Penn Station.

Tuesday, January 1: AM Eastbound
A weekend/holiday schedule will be in place on New Year's Day, with 14 additional eastbound trains from Penn Station between 12:35 a.m. and 4:19 a.m. The December monthly pass will remain valid for travel on the morning of New Year's Day.

1:11 a.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, and all stops to Babylon.
2:11 a.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, and all stops to Babylon.
2:59 a.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, and all stops to Babylon.
3:29 a.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, and all stops to Babylon.

Montauk Branch

1:29 a.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, and all stops to Speonk.

12:52 a.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville and all stops to Ronkonkoma.
