St. Sen. Barbara Buono Exceeds Fundraising Goal In N.J. Governor's Race

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono says she's exceeded her current fundraising goal.

Buono says her campaign has raised nearly $250,000 for the shortened quarter.

She says most of the money was raised in the past 10 days. Buono says she anticipates raising enough funds in the coming weeks to qualify for matching funds.

Buono, who lives in Metuchen, is the only Democrat in the race so far to try and challenge Gov. Chris Christie in November.

Christie has never been more popular than after leading the state through Hurricane Sandy in late October.

Christie had said he planned to raise $2 million by the end of 2012.
