PATH To Suspend Some Service For Weekend Repairs

HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- PATH service will be suspended from Newark to 33rd Street via Hoboken over the weekend.

Trains will operate from Newark to the World Trade Center site between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Port Authority will provide free shuttle buses at the Hoboken and Newport PATH stations.

The Port Authority says a weekend of suspended service provides PATH crews with uninterrupted work time as crews repair damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.

The agency says that work could help restore 24-hour PATH service within a week to 10 day.
