L.I. Man Arrested After Allegedy Threatening To Shoot Up High School

MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man was facing serious charges Saturday, after he allegedly made a threatening remark about the high school from which he graduated more than a decade ago.

Peter Andersen, 28, of Bellmore, was arrested Friday afternoon, Police said Bellmore was involved in a conversation on Dec. 22 in which he said he wanted to shoot everyone at Wellington C. Mepham High School.

The principal of the school found out about the statements Thursday and called police, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

It was not clear why Andersen made the threat against the school, or how the principal found out about it.

Andersen was charged with making a terroristic threat, and was to be arraigned Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
