Mets Land Starter, Agree With Shaun Marcum On 1-Year Deal
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Mets have bolstered their starting rotation, agreeing with right-hander Shaun Marcum on a one-year contract, according to WFAN and CBSSports.com baseball insider Jon Heyman.
The deal is pending a physical.
Marcum will join a rotation which is expected to include Johan Santana, Jonathon Niese, Dillon Gee and Matt Harvey.
The 31-year-old went 7-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 109 strikeouts for the Milwaukee Brewers last season. He was limited to 21 starts with lingering shoulder and elbow issues.
Marcum is 57-36 with a career 3.76 ERA.
The Mets are also reportedly mulling a run for free-agent outfielder Michael Bourn.
