Off-Duty School Safety Agent Shot In Brooklyn

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A school safety agent who was shot on Sunday night is expected to survive, according to first responders.

Neighbors told 1010 WINS reporter Gene Michaels that they heard a sound like 'fire crackers', before realizing what had happened.

"It sounded like fire crackers, like pow pow pow, I looked out through the window. I think the lady was his mom, and he said oh they shot me, they shot me," a neighbor said.

Safety Officer Shot In Brooklyn

The shooting occurred in Brooklyn on East 51st Street near Clarkson Ave, he was sitting alone in his car at the time of the crash.
