AKC: Labrador Retriever Nation's Top Dog

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- For the 22nd year in a row, the Labrador Retriever is America's top dog.

The American Kennel Club released its top 10 list of the nation's most popular dog breeds on Wednesday.

AKC spokeswoman Lisa Peterson said breeds like Labs are predictable, durable and steady and make great family dogs.

"They're a great service dog, therapy dog, they're wonderful as guide dogs for the blind and they're also valuable hunting companions as well," Peterson told 1010 WINS. "Because they do so many things so well, it continues to make them the most popular."
