Police Search For Robber Who Held Up Bank In Yorkville

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were asking for help from the public Wednesday to find the man who robbed a bank on the Upper East Side.

Around 3:38 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, the robber walked into the Valley National Bank at 1569 Third Ave., in Yorkville, and passed the teller a note and a plastic bag. The teller complied with the robber's demand for money, and the robber fled with an undisclosed sum.

No one was reported injured in the robbery.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a dark blue hat, brown dress shoes, a beige overcoat, and dark blue gloves.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers Web site, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect.
