NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Limited Amtrak service between New York and Boston resumed Sunday.

Service had been suspended Saturday afternoon because on the huge amounts of snow dumped in the Boston area.

Up to two feet of snow blanketed the city, while some communities outside the city were socked with up to 30 inches.

Amtrak’s Empire Service from New York to Albany has resumed a normal Sunday schedule.

Crews continue to clear snow off the tracks and removed downed trees blocking the tracks in some areas. Amtrak crews are also working to make needed repairs to get service back to normal.

As a result, some New England local service remains canceled.
