Peter, Paul And Mary Classic Turned Into Children's Book

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - One third of the folk group Peter, Paul, and Mary is out with a new children's book based on one of the group's classic songs.

Peter Yarrow and Nole 'Paul' Stookey authored "I'm In Love With A Big Blue Frog." Yarrow told CBS 2's Cindy Hsu that the song has a message of anti-bullying and tolerance.

"We have an African-American president, we have prejudice and anxiety over immigrants, lesbians, gay, bi, trans, Muslims," Yarrow told Hsu. "In America, our struggle is to continue to accept each other and so this is a book about that."

Yarrow called the book part of the "Sandy Hook Promise."

He sang "I'm In Love With A Big Blue Frog" and even added a little ditty for Cindy Hsu.

"I'm In Love With A Big Blue Frog," was written by Les Braunstein and made famous by Peter, Paul, and Mary in 1967.

Mary Travers died in 2009. Yarrow and Paul Stookey still perform together from time to time.

Yarrow is signing books in Maplewood, N.J. on Sunday and will make an appearance at the 92nd Street Y on Tuesday.
