Man Born Without Legs Pushes The Limits In New TV Series

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Kevin Michael Connelly was born without legs.

But that hasn't stopped him from traveling the globe and pushing the limits.

Now, from scaling trees with lumberjacks to cliff diving in Hawaii, the self-proclaimed thrill-seeker is embarking on a new adventure as the host of his own TV series, "Armed and Ready."

He visited The Couch to fill us in on his new endeavor.

"In pretty much every episode of Armed & Ready, I'm scared and pretty much regretting the life decisions that led me to that point," Connolly joked.

"There's definitely a little bit of masochistic element to everything I do."

But even as a youngster, Connolly was a daredevil.

He started doing the X Games when he was 17, and since then has gotten "crazier and crazier," as he put it.

Connolly said jousting is the scariest challenge he's ever tried -- and there is, in fact, one thing he refuses to do.

"Anything involving alligators or crocodiles," he said with a laugh. "I've seen how quickly someone needs to back away in a situation like that, and I don't have a tremendous number of limbs to spare."

What's the most difficult part about being born without legs?

"I would say at least, regarding the challenges, it would be arriving at a location or when you're traveling, always having to adapt to the situation around you."

Now, he's hoping to serve as an inspiration to those who face similar circumstances -- or any kind of setback, whether it be physical or mental.

"I hope everyone watches it and is inspired to go out and travel, regardless of whatever challenges they may face," he said.

"At the end of the day the thing I hope for the most is visibility, and that regardless of whatever challenges you have when you go out and travel, you can still go out and do it."

Armed and Ready premieres on The Travel Channel, Tuesday at 10 p.m.
