NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — NJ TRANSIT will continue to offer system-wide cross honoring through Friday to give customers additional travel during the latest winter storm.
Powerful winds caused no damage to the system over night and buses, trains and light rail lines were operating on or close to schedule Thursday morning, the agency said.
With the potential of high winds and heavy, wet snow Thursday into Friday, crews are on standby to respond to downed trees, power outages and other issues that may arise, the agency said.
Snow plows and salt spreaders are ready and the agency has performed all necessary maintenance and testing.
Locomotives will also be positioned at strategic locations to rapidly respond to disabled trains.
