NYC Teacher Fired For Sending Shirtless Photos Via Work E-Mail Account

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A New York City Public Schools teacher who used to work as a male model has been fired, after he was caught sending bare-chested photos of himself using a school e-mail address.

Matthew Maleski, 32, had been a special education teacher at P.S. 183 on the Upper East Side, according to the New York Post and Daily News. He had been responding to personal ads on Craigslist when he sent photos of himself wearing only boxer shorts.

The messages were then discovered by another teacher with whom he shared the email account.

Investigators for the city Department of Education said Maleski admitted to sending the photos, but said he did it during non-work hours, and had meant to use his personal account to send the messages.

Nonetheless, he lost his job at the school earlier this week.

As a male model about a year ago, Maleski appeared shirtless in a video called "I Just Wanna F***in' Dance," in which he appears under a bright orange light dancing to house music, according to published reports.

He was an untenured teacher and had been hired in 2011, the newspapers reported.

The newspapers say Maleski didn't return phone messages.
