Woman Gives Birth To Baby Girl On Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway

WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- An expectant mother and her boyfriend were rushing to the hospital early Thursday morning, but the baby couldn't wait.

Chantelle LeGrande, 28, said she was in the front seat of the car and her boyfriend Gregory Mars was driving, racing from their home in Queens to Plainview Hospital, when she felt the baby coming.

"He was saying, 'Don't push, don't push,'" LeGrande said.

LeGrande was placed in the back of an ambulance where she gave birth to a healthy 8-pound baby girl at 3:07 a.m.

"It was quick, easy," LeGrande said, adding that it was easier giving birth on the side of the road in a car than in a hospital because it happened so quickly.
