NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A woman was struck and killed by a motorcycle on the Belt Parkway in eastern Queens Tuesday.

At 11:54 a.m., police were sent to the Belt Parkway near Conduit Avenue — on the cusp of the Ozone Park and Lindenwood sections of Queens — after the woman was found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene.

Police learned that the woman, who was in her 50s, was trying to cross the westbound lanes of the Belt Parkway when she was hit by a motorcycle.

The woman, whose name had not been released Tuesday evening, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was reported in serious condition. He was described by police as a man in his 40s.

The NYPD Highway Patrol Accident Investigation Squad was investigating the crash Tuesday evening.
